Following up its successful editions, the 4th IAA-LACW will keep the focus on topics related to CubeSat technology, providing a forum for scientists and engineers to discuss their achievements and cutting edge findings. Considering the increasing interest in CubeSat activities, and the recent successful Cubesat missions in Latin America, the International Academy of Astronautics is organizing in 2020 a workshop where participants from industry and academia will have the opportunity to share their professional knowledge, enlarging their networks in the subject. Some of the most outstanding professionals in CubeSat missions and applications will attend the workshop giving special talks and lectures.
This edition, exceptionally, the workshop will be held virtually. Both the public and the presenters will participate via videoconference. The event will be coordinated by INPE with the collaboration of UFSC, and several measures are being taken to offer a great experience for everyone. The registration fees have been reduced significantly, since the costs will also be significantly lower than in previous editions. Some deadlines were also changed in order to better adapt to this year’s workshop format. As soon as possible, the participants will receive instructions on how to use the videoconference tool.
The National Space Research Institute (INPE), which is the main space research institute in the Southern Hemisphere, and the most important institution in Earth System. It is a civilian centre for space activities aiming scientific research, technological applications and qualifying personnel in the fields of space and atmospheric sciences, space engineering, and space technology. INPE is located in São José dos Campos, which is a city 80 km (50 mi) away from São Paulo and 320 km (200 mi) from Rio de Janeiro. It is the home of the major aerospace industry in Latin America.
